Pakistan Airlines Flight Delayed After Passenger Opens Emergency Exit Door

A Pakistan International Airlines plane,

Passengers on a flight bound for Pakistan from the United Kingdom were delayed by seven hours after one of the passengers mistook an emergency exit door for the bathroom while the plane was still on the ground, according to a report from CNN.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Flight 702 was scheduled to depart Manchester in the UK for Islamabad, Pakistan on Friday, but the journey was interrupted after the exit slide was deployed automatically when the passenger mistakenly opened the emergency exit door.

Forty people on the flight were deplaned after the incident, PIA said.

"We regret the delay of PK771, which is an unfortunate consequence of the delay of PK702, caused due to a passenger opening the emergency door," the airline tweeted. "We strongly urge passengers to follow security instructions as such mishaps result in inconvenience of hundreds of other passengers."

One passenger said on social media that the airline had lost his luggage, criticizing the airline for its 'poor service.'

"Our mistake was to get off loaded. If we had not off loaded there was no way this plane was going to fly," @WaterLileee tweeted. "Nobody at airport telling us what happened to our luggage. After 3.5 hrs of frantic searching we get to know it wasn't even brought in the first place."
